Email us

The best way to reach us is by email: oldroofproblems@gmail.com.

We read every message. We try to reply within a few business days, but we can’t promise a reply to every email.

What we can help with

  • Questions about our guides. If something on a page is unclear, tell us which page and what confused you.
  • Corrections. If you think a fact, a law, or a date is wrong or out of date, please let us know. A link to an official source helps.
  • Suggestions. Tell us what topic you wish we covered, or what would have helped when your own roof letter arrived.

What we can’t do

We are not an insurance company, an insurance agent, a lawyer, or a roofer. We can’t:

  • Give legal, insurance, or financial advice about your situation.
  • Read your policy and tell you what it covers.
  • Contact your insurer for you, or change a decision it has made.
  • Inspect or certify your roof.

For questions about your own policy, call your insurer or agent. If you think you were treated unfairly, your state department of insurance has a free consumer helpline.

Want someone to look at your roof?

If you would like a local roofer to check your roof, use our free roof check page. It is free, with no obligation.

Our corrections policy

Insurance rules change often and differ by state. We check our guides against official sources such as state insurance departments and state laws. When we learn that something is wrong or out of date, we review it and fix the page. If a change is important, we update the guide and its sources list.

Terms of use

  • Education only. Everything on this site is general information to help you understand your options. It is not legal, insurance, or financial advice.
  • Check with the source. Rules differ by state and by insurer, and they change. Always confirm details with your insurer, your agent, or your state department of insurance before you act.
  • No guarantees. We work to keep our guides accurate, but we can’t guarantee that every detail is complete or current, or that any step will lead to a particular result with your insurer.
  • Links to other sites. We link to outside websites, such as state agencies and news outlets, so you can check our sources. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content.
